Windows Live Messenger 8.1 has been officially released on Windows Live Ideas and following features and improvements have been introduced in this beta:

|| New contact cards
|| Your display name, status and personalization roam with you to any computer
|| Changes to the emoticons, backgrounds, display picture menus
|| Updated Icons that didn’t make it in 8.0.
|| Improved sign-in performance
